SEC Lists Preliminary TV Hoops Slate

The schedule is still incomplete and unannounced. But at least Mississippi State basketball fans can start making some plans for their winter TV viewing after the SEC released the preliminary list of televised league games for the coming season.

This is an initial and incomplete lineup, though. The list does not include any bookings for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, which late in August added Mississippi State to their 16-team lineup. The Bulldogs are to play in the Nov. 11-12 ‘regional' rounds in Birmingham, opponents also TBA. If State advances to the semis and finals in Madison Square Garden the games will be shown on ESPN.

Nor does the list show State's December 5 date with Arizona in the John Wooden Classic, to be played in Anaheim, Cal., and broadcast nationally.

But there are a couple of other December dates on the SEC's initial list, starting with a Dec. 2 game in Humphrey Coliseum with South Alabama at 7:00. Fox Sports Net will show this game. State's game at Xavier on December 18 will be shown on ESPN, tipoff at 7:00 CST.

FSN also has State's appearance in the Sugar Bowl Classic for a third time. This 2004 edition matches MSU with Virginia Tech, at 6:30, while LSU and Florida State play at 9:00 in the New Orleans Arena.

As for the SEC season, the Bulldogs will be televised on these games: Jan. 8 at Mississippi (Jefferson-Pilot); Jan. 12 at Tennessee (JP); Jan. 18 at Alabama (ESPN); at home against South Carolina Jan. 22 (FSN); Jan. 29 against LSU (JP); Feb. 1 against Florida (ESPN2); Feb. 12 against Vanderbilt (FSN); Feb. 16 against Vanderbilt (FSN); Feb. 16 against LSU (JP split-feed); Feb. 19 at Kentucky (ESPN); Feb. 26 against Mississippi (FSN); March 1 against Arkansas (ESPN); and in the regular-season finale March 5 at home against Alabama (CBS).
