Willie Page played for Jones County Junior College in Mississippi this past season. Rated the 46th best junior college player in the nation (9th best defensive tackle) by JCFootball.com, Willie confirmed that he is 6-5 tall, weighs 285 pounds and runs the forty in 4.8 seconds. He benches 350 pounds and squats 505.

This former Bay Springs High School athlete has received quite a bit of attention from recruiters this fall. Willie, when asked what schools are recruiting him the hardest, said, "South Carolina, Troy State, USM and New Mexico are the main ones."

With one official visit already taken to Carson-Newman, Willie has also set up three other official visits. "On the 11th of January I go to USM," Willie said. "On the 18th I go to Troy State and on the 25th I go to South Carolina."

New Mexico, a team that seems to be recruiting the Mississippi junior colleges hard this year, has also tried to set up an official visit with Willie but he was already scheduled to visit Carson-Newman the time they wanted him to come in. No visit has been set up with them at the time I talked to Willie (Dec. 18th).

Of the schools that are recruiting him, Willie mentioned there are two that he likes the most. "There are two that I have made my mind on, South Carolina and Southern."

He talked about why he likes those two over the others that are recruiting him.

"I like Southern because my family could make it to the home games," Willie said. "It is close for them so they wouldn't have to drive far. I liked the coaches. The defensive coordinator visited me on the 14th and talked to me."

He also mentioned several things about South Carolina that he really likes. "I like the program at South Carolina and I like the head coach (Lou Holtz). I have an ex-teammate from junior college that plays there. His name is Issac Stackhouse."

Although he didn't specifically say this would affect his final decision, he did mention that Southern Miss has been recruiting him the longest. In fact, they recruited him in high school.

Willie will now take the final step in the recruiting process leading up to the February signing day by taking his primary official visits.
