STARKVILLE, Miss. - Following a week that saw it slip out of the rankings for a brief spell after losses to No. 1 North Carolina and Southern Cal, the Mississippi State Soccer team climbed back into the Soccer Buzz Central Region top 15 ranking Tuesday morning.
State's No. 14 ranking in the Tuesday morning poll marked the highest for the Maroon and White (3-3-1) this season after debuting at No. 15 just two weeks ago. Having been scheduled to play a pair of games last week, the Bulldogs blanked Memphis
by a 2-0 count on Tuesday evening at home before having their Friday game at Jacksonville State rescheduled for Sept. 28 due to Hurricane Ivan sweeping across the state of Alabama.
The central region is comprised of 68 teams from 12 different states with six of the teams in this week's region ranking also appearing in the
national top 30. The central region is the largest of six regions in NCAA Division I women¹s soccer.
Mississippi State will return to action this weekend when the Bulldogs open Southeastern Conference play at home against defending SEC Champion and No. 7 Tennessee (3-2-2). Kickoff for that contest has been set for 7 p.m. Friday at the MSU Soccer Field and admission to all 2004 Mississippi State home games is free.
