Sunday Scrimmage Update
Sunday scrimmage notes.
Sunday's scrimmage was a 3-1 2, 2-2 count scrimmage. What that means is each batter had a 3-1 count or 2-2 count on him when he stepped to the plate.
I wasn't able to make the Monday night scrimmage due to having to write a couple of articles for the Dawgs' Bite magazine. The team scrimmages again this Friday (4 p.m.), Satuday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.)
One pitcher did extremely well despite the 3-1 count. Justin Pigott, in his 4 innings of work allowed 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 5.
Other pitchers who did well were: Michael Valentine 4 IP, 0 H, 5 SO, 5 BB, 2 ER; Trent Hill 4 IP, 1 H, 1 SO, 9 BB, 0 ER; Josh Johnson 4 IP, 0 H, 5 SO, 7 BB, 2 ER; Todd Doolittle 4 IP, 1 H, 7 SO, 10 BB, 1 ER. Although a few of these pitchers had a lot of walks, almost all of the walks were during their 2 innings of 3-1 count pitching.
Because of the unusual counts, the hitters, like the pitchers, didn't perform as well as normal, but a few guys still had a good day at the plate: Brad Corley 2-for-7, 2B, 2 RBI; Mitch Moreland 3-for-3, HR 4 RBI; Edward Easley 1-for-4, 2 RBI; Brian LaNinfa 2-for-4, 3 RBI.
