We primarily discussed what schools he is most interested in and who he has and will officially visit.

Marvin, ranked by at least one publication as the number two linebacker in the country, has received such pre-season honors as Dave Campbell Texas Magazine's Super Defensive Team, TheInsiders Top 101 List, PrepStar Spring Top 350 list, The G&W Recruiting Report All-American Squad, and SuperPrep's National Top Fifty Squad (one of five LBs on the team).

Marvin has an older brother Shawn who was a senior Dog Safety for Mississippi State this past season. Shawn, who I briefly talked to on the phone prior to talking to Marvin, was selected to play in the Blue-Gray game on Christmas day.

Marvin obviously has it on the ball as far as recruiting is concerned having already taken three of his five official visits. Having taken an official visit to Mississippi State on November 30th, he also mentioned a couple of other schools he has visited. "I went to Oklahoma on December 7-9. I went to Texas A&M last week (Dec. 14-16)."

He also has his other official visits scheduled and will even visit one school unofficially. " When I come back from my break I'm going to Texas on (Jan.) 11th and I'm going to Arkansas on (Jan.) 18th. Then, on (Jan.) 25th I'm going to unofficially visit LSU."

Although those six schools are generally the only ones calling him now, he did mention, when asked by me, that he is also receiving numerous calls from recruiting folks like me. In fact he said he receives, "about three (of those) a night."

While he now has a final six to choose from, Marvin was not ready to name a leader. "Everything is pretty open right now."

When asked what he liked about Mississippi State, he mentioned that, "I liked the coaches (at MSU) because they were all enthused." But he also went on to say, that the schools and coaches were pretty much the same at all of the schools. "Really, it is about the same at every school. It's just a different place, a different school. It's kind of hard."

With a difficult choice ahead for this extremely talented young man, at least he has an older brother who has been through the recruiting process and can help him through it.
