Lady Bulldogs Win Wildcat Fall Invitational.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mississippi State University's women's golf team won its first tournament of the season with a victory at the Wildcat Fall Invitational in Lexington, Ky., on Sunday. The squad improved its score with each round played, recording a 297 in the final round for a 34-over par performance. The three-day event was held at the University Club of Kentucky's Big Blue Course, a par-72, 6,085-yard course.

"The team played with great confidence today and never looked back," said head coach Christi Sanders. "Stephanie and Janet both earned their best finishes with their consistent play. I am extremely proud of Amanda's first colligate win. The golf course suits her game, and she is very deserving of this individual honor."

Sophomore Amanda Mathis won medallist honors at the event, the first of her career, recording a three-over par performance in the final round. Stephanie Godare shot a 75 in the final round, leaving her tied for second, her best career finish.

Senior Janet Dyer also recorded her best finish with a fifth place performance, shooting a 73 on the last 18 holes. Germantown, Tenn., native Beth Irwin took tied for 11th, and freshman Julia Huh finished tied for 24th.

The Lady Bulldogs compete next at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C., at the Furman University Golf Course on Oct. 22-24.
