V-Ball Bulldogs Ranked 83rd by RichKern.com

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State's Volleyball Bulldogs are ranked 83rd in the latest collegiate women's volleyball computer rankings compiled by RichKern.com.

MSU dropped six places in the national rankings despite knocking off Louisiana State 3-2 and dropping a closely-contested 3-1 decision at Arkansas. LSU is ranked fifth in the AVCA's South Region and 45th nationally while Arkansas, ranked 64th, is ranked eighth in the regional.

The Bulldogs (9-7, 2-2 SEC) open their SEC home schedule this weekend, entertaining once-beaten Tennessee (14-1, 4-0 SEC) Friday in a 7 p.m. match at the Newell-Grissom Building. The Lady Vols, ranked 18th in the latest AVCA coaches poll, are ranked sixth nationally and first in the region in this week's RichKern.com computer ratings.

Mississippi State wraps up Homecoming weekend competition Sunday with a 2 p.m. match against SEC East rival South Carolina (8-5, 1-3 SEC). MSU opened its 2004 conference competition on the road Sept. 24 with a 3-0 win at South Carolina, State's first win over USC in Columbia, S.C., since 1991.
