CORDOVA, Tenn. - Mississippi State slipped to sixth place on the final day of the Memphis Intercollegiate at Colonial Country Club's South Course in Cordova, Tenn. The Bulldogs fired a final-round 303 to finish the 54-hole event at 891.
Senior Joe Deraney captured his second consecutive top-10 finish with a seventh-place finish. The Statesboro, Ga. - product finished four shots off the individual champion, Allan Thomas of Memphis. Deraney carded a final round score of 75. Sophomore Josh Oller posted his best finish of his MSU career with a 20th-place spot. Senior Tim Satow finished up with a 78 to place 25th. Sophomore Greg Huxman and senior Daniel Boles rounded out the State scorecard with rounds of 78 and 75 respectively. Carl Sutton finished the two-day event with a 79 on the final day.
The University of Memphis Tigers claimed the team title with a final round of 290. Xavier finished second in the 16-team event, while Central Florida, Louisville and Mississippi rounded out the top-five teams.
The Bulldogs will take a couple of weeks off from competition before closing out the fall schedule in Baton Rouge, La. at the LSU/Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate Oct. 25-26.
