Marcus Campbell Discusses the Upcoming Season

Campbell has high expectations for this season.

Marcus Campbell Profile:

What have you seen different in this team compared to last year's team?
"We came together a lot faster than expected. We lost Timothy (Bowers), Branden (Vincent) and Lincoln Smith, but we have gained some freshmen. It seems like everybody has jelled. I really think this team has a chance to be better than last year's team."

Why do you think that?
"We just play so well together. This team knows that we have to work even harder to be better."

You said you guys play so well together. Will that help the team if you wind up not having Lawrence for the first few games?
"In a way it does. We have the team chemistry that allows us to do well without him. It'll be a lot harder without him but it can still be done. Our team is a unit even though one player shines more than others, but for it to work, everybody has to do their part."

How do you feel about how you have progressed while at Mississippi State?
"I'm feeling really positive about my progression at Mississppi State. I really feel that I have gotten a lot better over the years. I really feel confident."

You had an interesting summer as a coach at the adidas camp. How did it help you as a player?
"It gave me a chance to play against some of the best players in America. NBA guys got the chance to look at you on a one-on-one basis, so it was pretty good."

What does Ontario Harper, who was injured last year and didn't get to play, bring to this team?
"He brings another quality, smart player to the team. He is a really good defensive player and takes pride in his defense and rebounding."
