Recruiting Update: OL Johnny Carpenter

Johnny Carpenter, an offensive lineman who played for Citronelle (AL) High School, talked about what coaches have come in for visits to his home and which schools are his leaders.

Johnny Carpenter Profile

The last time we talked you had offers from Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and UAB. Has that changed?
"It's the same right now."

Have any coaches tried to set up any in-home visits?
"I've missed the past couple of phone calls, but my dad spoke with them. Mississippi State and Southern Miss called. I've talked to the Ole Miss and UAB coaches. I believe Southern Miss and Mississippi State are going to set up in-home visits."

Have you set up any official visits?
"I'm visiting Mississippi State on January 15th. The other schools have called me about visits, but I haven't set them up."

Who do you plan to officially visit?
"Probably Mississippi State, Southern Miss, UAB and Ole Miss. I'm not sure about my 5th one."

What are your feelings about each school?
"Southern Miss is close to home and I like the people over there. Mississippi State is an SEC school and they have Coach Croom who I think is going to do a good job. I liked their campus. Ole Miss, I just like it up there. The Grove is nice and the coaches are pretty nice. And it's a good SEC program. UAB, I don't know much about them because I'm only been up there once."

Since we last talked, do you like any school better than you did before?
"Probably Mississippi State."

Would you say they are now your leader?
"To be honest with you, yeah, probably Mississippi State is leading."

Do you plan on taking all of your official visits before you make your decision, or will you go ahead and commit if a school just feels like the right one?
"I might commit at a school while I'm taking my official visits, but I plan on taking all five of them before making my decision."
