"It was real nice. I loved it. They treated us like royalty."
What did you enjoy most about the trip?
"Just the players and the coaches and our relationship with each other."
Which players are you closest too?
"I'm cool with all of them. I know a lot of them."
Are you talking about current players or recruits?
"All of them. The current players are cool and the recruits are cool too. Donald Lee was my host. He showed me around."
What recruits did you hang out with the most?
"Darren Williams. I hung out with Norwood, Richard Burch, Otis Riddley, Aries Nelson, and Ken Topps; that's about it."
What kind of talent would you say was there this weekend?
"Oh, we're a very respectable bunch; a well known bunch."
How would you say this visit compared with some others you've taken?
"This was my first."
Where are you going next?
"Ole Miss and Miami. I don't know where I'm going on the 2nd. I'm going to Miami or Tennessee on the 25th, I'm not sure."
I understand there was a video presentation where all of the players had video clips shown...
"Yea, they had a highlight film for us."
Of all the people you watched on tape, who impressed you the most?
"Basically, I already knew all the players that were there except the one from Atlanta - Nick Turner. I've never seen him run before, but he's something."
What did he do on tape?
"He was running the ball. Just jumping over people and going the extra mile to get the extra yard. You know, stuff like that. The other guys, I already knew what they were about."
Several publications have you listed as a MSU commitment - is that still the case?
"I'm still real strong with State. It's still real strong. You just gotta have that little open space, you know. That's all. My commitment is really strong. Unless a freak accident happens, I'm going to go there."
I want to ask you this. There were rumors on some of the Ole Miss message boards that had you decommitted from State and leaning to Ole Miss. Did you know about that?
"I heard it."
What did you think about that?
"That all came about when I said I was going to some games, but I never even went."
Wait a minute, let me understand, they (Ole Miss) were saying you were going to their games?
"They thought I was coming for some games, but I ended up not going. By choice, I just didn't go."
But I think they were saying you decommitted?
"I didn't decommit."
So, it was just a rumor?
"It was just a rumor."
[Markell was saying that, because he was going to go to some of last year's Ole Miss games, some fans started saying he was waivering. But he said he never even went to those games. - Brent]
Do you ever look at the internet?
"I look at it every now and then."
But you don't keep up with rumors?
"I don't even know where that stuff is."
Well, I don't want to take up much of your time...
"Its no problem. Ask anything you want."
I'm glad you are enjoying the recruiting process. Thank you for your time, Markell.
