Hey Brett, this is Gene Swindoll.
"Hey, how's it going?"

I've got to know if the rumors are true. Did you decommit from Mississippi State and commit to Ole Miss (laugh)?
"(Laugh) Somebody has told you wrong."

(Laugh) I'm just joking with you. I'm just calling to see how your official visit to Mississippi State went.
"I enjoyed it. I enjoyed being around all the coaches and spending time with the players. It was a lot of fun. I think all the players enjoyed it because we got to spend a lot of time together. We had a good time."

Were there a couple of things that stood out about the visit?
"Really, just how the coaches were so accessible. You feel like you can talk to them about anything. It is a good relationship there. That is what really impressed me about it. Everytime you were around them, you felt comfortable. It was kind of a laid back situation."

Have you really gotten to talk to Coach Sherrill much prior to your official visit?
"Yes, I've known him for a lot of years. He has come to my house a couple of times to see Rob. He and Coach Davis came to our house earlier, so I've talked to him a good bit before."

I've talked to Blake Pettit, another recruit that was there. He said he and you formed a friendship while visiting Mississippi State. He said it was an awesome trip.
"I got to know him well. He is a really nice guy. We had some good times. Really, it was like that with all of us. We were just all kicking it together. We all fit in well. Nobody was left out and it was a lot of fun."

Did you all go out together or in separate groups?
"We went out separately, but a lot of us wound up in the same places."

I noticed you were in two large buses a couple of times while I was at State last weekend.
"We were. The parents rode on one bus, while the football players rode on the other one."

Did you form a bond with any players other than Blake?
"Yes, really all of them. Most of us knew each other before. We got to know each other even more. Justin (Tyler) and I got to know each other pretty good. We went out together. (Kevin) Fant was his host. We all stayed together."

By the way, who was your host?
"Josh (Morgan)."

Did you like having your brother as your host?
"Yes, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way."

Do you remember meeting a player named Bryson Davis?
"Yes, he is nice guy. He is real good. We flew together. We met him in Jackson and flew up there. I saw him on his film. He is unbelievable, really."

I know you guys got to watch highlight film of each other. Did two or three players really stand out?
"They all looked good. They all made plays. Of course, Norwood and Darren Williams stick out in your mind. But they are all good."

Just being around them, how did you feel about Norwood and Williams?
"Man, you would think, because they are both All-Americans, they would be cocky, but they are just down-to-earth people. Both of them are as nice as can be. Really, they are the kind of people we need to win with."

Didn't you guys get in a room with several players with no coaches present and ask the players anything you wanted to?
"Yes, it was a panel of players. It was Rob and Josh (Morgan), Rod Gibson, Justin Griffith and Kamau Jackson. There were no coaches, just all the players and all the parents."

How did that go over?
"It went real good. Everybody asked their thoughts on things. It went really good. They liked that a lot."

After you got out of the room, what was the talk among the players and parents about it?
"It was very positive feedback. They really all enjoyed it."

I guess that about does it, Brett. I really appreciate you taking time to talk to me.
"Alright, be cool."
