Tim Holloway is a player who has the size to play linebacker and the speed to play running back in college. While most schools believe he would make an outstanding linebacker on the collegiate level, Holloway prefers another position.
"I want a chance to run it," said Holloway, a player who is considered one of the top senior running backs in the state of Mississippi. "The schools have said they are going to give me a chance at running back. They said I would be a great linebacker, but I told them that's not really what I want to play."
Several schools have been calling Holloway on a regular basis.
"(Mississippi) State and Southern (Miss) are calling me," said Holloway. "I haven't heard from Ole Miss, but they normally call. Samford, Jackson State and Alabama are also calling. LSU was calling me, but not anymore. They got a commitment from another linebacker. I don't want to play linebacker anyway, so it really didn't hurt me."
As of right now, two schools have come in for in-home visits. Both came in the first week that coaches were allowed to make in-home visits.
"So far, Mississippi State and Southern (Miss) have come to my house," said Holloway. "It was a couple of weeks ago. Coach Croom and Coach Kitchens came in from State."
What did he think about MSU's head man, Sylvester Croom?
"He seems pretty cool and seems like a nice dude," said Holloway. "He said he is going to make sure I go to school everyday and attend class. He said the freshmen and sophomores will stay on campus. He is just trying to do the right thing. "
Holloway has set up two official visits and is talking to several other schools about his final three visits.
"I've set up visits to Mississippi State and Southern (Miss), so far," said Holloway, who has offers from Mississippi State and Southern Miss. "I go to Mississippi State on January 14th and to Southern on the 28th (of January). I was going to go to Ole Miss, but I don't know about that now. I am going to set up an official visit with Alabama, but I don't know when. Jackson State and Samford also want me to come in for a visit."
Of the schools recruiting him, three have made his list of favorites.
"My favorites are Alabama, (Miss) State and Ole Miss," said Holloway.
Why did those school make his list?
"The coaches are why I like them right now," said Holloway. "That's about all I know about the schools."
What is he looking for in a school?
"I want to go to a school that wants me as a person, not just because I play ball," explained Holloway.
