Recruiting Update - OL Calvin Wilson

Calvin Wilson, rated one of the top two offensive linemen in the state of Mississippi this year, talked about the college coaches that have come in for in-home and in-school visits, who he has visited and will visits and his thoughts on the schools that are his top five.

Calvin Wilson Profile:

With his status rising almost daily, Wilson has been inundated with in-school and in-home visits the past two weeks.

"Ole Miss came to my home," said Wilson, ranked the 80th player and 11th best offensive lineman in the south by Scout.com. "Florida came to my school. Mississippi State came twice, I believe. (MSU assistant) Coach Kitchens came to my school Monday and came to my home last week. LSU hasn't been to my home, but they've been to my school a lot. Auburn came to my school yesterday (Tuesday). And USM came last week."

With one official visit out of the way, a December 3rd visit to LSU, Wilson has reshuffled his remaining visits and added one more team since we last talked. His final four visits are now scheduled for January.

"Auburn is January 8th, Mississippi State January 14th, Ole Miss is the 21st and Florida is the 28th," said Wilson, who moved Auburn from December 17th and added Florida.

What does he like about the schools?

"They all have great coaches," said Wilson. I've talked to them a lot. The more I talk to them, the more I learn about their schools."

Anybody ahead of the others?

"No, not really," said Wilson. "They are all pretty much all the same."

Obviously, my site is the Mississippi State site on Scout.com. What does he think about the Bulldogs?

"I'm starting to like them more," said Wilson, a lean looking 6-5, 320-pounder. "I have always liked State, but now I'm starting to like them more and more. I've had a chance to talk to Coach Croom and all the other coaches on the staff a lot. Their offensive line coach came to my school last week. He said he has a couple of his players in the (NFL)."

Since most parents want to be able to watch their children play college ball, does he feel his want him to stay close to home?

"Yeah, they would, but they are really just telling me to make the best decision for me, where I feel comfortable," said Wilson, who considers himself a homebody.
