"This is Markell. How are you doing?"
Thanks for asking, I'm doing great. Have you got time to talk or are you too busy right now?
"Oh, I've got time. There were some people here, but they are gone now."
I believe you visited Ole Miss this past weekend. Is that correct?
How did your trip go?
"I'm not going to sugar coat it, it was real nice."
When did you get to Ole Miss?
"(Weir HS football) coach Graham took me up there. I got up there early Friday afternoon, because he had to go back for a basketball game."
Who was your host while at Ole Miss?
"Eric Rice, the tight end."
What were some things you really liked about Ole Miss?
"How comfortable everything was. And how friendly everybody was."
What did you guys do Saturday?
"We ate (dinner) in one of the skyboxes."
What did you think about the facilities?
"That place (the stadium) is going to be wonderful. That place is going to be huge. It is going to hold 75,000."
Considering you committed to Mississippi State early on, did it surprise you how friendly the people at Ole Miss were to you?
"Pretty much. I sold them short, really."
Now that you have officially visited Mississippi State and Ole Miss, would you say you are still committed to Mississippi State or are you now reconsidering your commitment?
"I'm not going to lie to you. When I first got home, I was like man, it is so different up there. I was thinking about changing ships. When I was up there, I was so close....goodness, I was so close. I was confused. Then, after I got home, some people that I truly trust and deeply respect came and talked to me. I don't believe my grandma was going to let me leave, anyway (laugh).
Are you saying that you are still committed to Mississippi State?
"The way that I feel now, I am going to be a Bulldog next year."
Now that you've taken some visits, what do you feel about the recruiting process now?
"Goodness, Florida was tempting. Miami and all of those big-named schools were tempting. During the spring, (the schools) were showing up out of the woodwork. (Mississippi) State didn't even see any film of me. I had to show them what I was about at their camp. The first camp session they heard of me. I came to the second camp, gave it all that I had, and (MSU defensive line) Coach Hendrick loved it. They offered me (a scholarship) right there on the spot."
Was Mississippi State the first school to offer you a scholarship?
"Yes sir. They saw me first-hand."
I don't want to take anymore of your time, Markell. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.
