[Premium article] Corvelli Haynes, who played for Don Harris' Cleveland East Side High School team, is a 6-4, 230-lb defensive end that runs a 4.72 40-yard dash. Corvelli, a member of the The Clarion-Ledger's top 40 recruits' list, committed to MSU earlier this morning. Here is what he said during my interview with him.

Hey, this is Gene Swindoll of Gene's Page. I'm trying to get in touch with Corvelli Haynes.
"This is Corvelli."

Hey Corvelli. How are you doing?

Charles Johnson, one of my writers, was never able to get in touch with you after your official visit to MSU. I'm just calling to get an update on how your visit went?
"It went well. I had fun hanging out with the players and the other recruits. I committed to (MSU) today."

You did?
"Yes sir."

What time did you commit?
"Earlier this morning. Coach (Melvin) Smith called and I committed to him over the phone."

I know you were also strongly considering Georgia and a couple of other schools. Why did you go ahead and commit to Mississippi State?
"Georgia was too far away. I just didn't want to go away that far."

Were there any other factors?
"I felt comfortable around the other recruits and I've liked Mississippi State for a long time. I used to go to tennis camps there."

Thanks for your time, Corvelli.
