Recruiting Update: DL Antonio Forbes

Antonio Forbes (6-4, 265, 4.65), one of the mostly highly recruited high school defensive linemen in the south, talked with Gene's Page about recruiting.

Antonio Forbes Profile

How's recruiting going?
"Man, I'm just taking it day by day enjoying this recruiting process. I'm just ready to end it, man."

You officially visited Arkansas in early December. Did you visit any school this past weekend?
"Yeah, I went to Alabama."

Did you commit to them?
"No, I almost did, but to tell you the truth, they are like on the top of my list right now."

What was it about the visit that you liked so much?
"Man, there were like so many top recruits there like Fred Rouse. And they made us feel so comfortable. The atmosphere and the players were great. Then, we went to the LSU-Alabama basketball game and they had fans with our names on posters. It was real nice and we had a good time."

You said you came close to committing. What made you decide to hold off?
"Because he said if you committed, you can't take the rest of your visits. I have three more visits to take and I feel I owe the coaches since I said I was going to visit. Even if I am going to Alabama, I am going to take my official visits."

What other schools do you have visits set up with?
"I am going to Louisville next week. After that, I'm going to either Oklahoma or Michigan. Then, my last one will be Florida State."

At one time you said you might visit Mississippi State. Are you still going to visit them?
"No, I'm not going to Mississippi State."

You were considering Mississippi State at one time. Why did you decide to remove them from you list?
"Yeah, I was. (MSU Head) Coach (Sylvester) Croom and (Assistant) Coach (Shane) Beamer came down to my house and everything was cool, but I feel like Mississippi State is still in the rebuilding process and it will take a couple more years before Mississippi State will be ranked."
