MSU Commit Michael Gates Visits MSU

Mississippi State commitment Michael Gates, a tight end/offensive lineman who played for Sandy Creek (GA) High School, talked to Gene's Page about his official visit to Mississippi State this past weekend.

Michael Gates Profile

How was your visit to Mississippi State this weekend?
"It was great. I loved the facilities and met the players. It was wonderful."

Did the official visit cause your commitment to MSU to be even more solid than it was prior to the visit? If so, why?
"Most definitely. I got to meet the players and they hang out together off the field. They are very close and that makes a difference on the field. You know you are out there with someone you can trust."

Now that you have met the MSU coaches, what do you think about them?
"Very dedicated! They fit real well together and they believe in the program and that's the main reason I want to go be a part of it."

Who was your player host and what did you think of him?
"Dezmond Sherrod. He was great (laugh). We hung out, played Madden and he told me all about the team and school and things like that."

Did you get to meet any of the other recruits that visited? If so, who were they?
"Yes, I met everybody, but I can barely remember their names. I met a lot of people (laugh)."
