Jones was a busy young man during the May recruiting period, if for no other reason than all the recruiting calls he received.
"Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida-Atlantic, Alabama, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Maryland, Indiana, Purdue, Temple, (James) Madison, Southern Illinois called," said Jones, a yes sir, no sir kind of guy. "There were probably more, but I don't remember all of them."
The offers have also poured in.
"Kansas, Kansas State, Clemson, Temple, (James) Madison, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State have offered," said Jones. "I have 3 or 4 written offers and the rest are verbal."
He claims no favorites at the moment.
"All the schools that are interested in me are all great schools and know what they are talking about," said Jones. "There are really no top 5, I will go anywhere. I am very open."
Part of the reason he hasn't cut his list down is because he wants to focus on his team and help them make it to the playoffs again.
"I want to focus on my team and see how far we can go," said Jones, who played defensive line at Lake Brantley HS as a sophomore and was moved to offensive line at Spruce Creek HS this past season. "We went to the third round of the playoffs last year. That was one game away from the championship game."
Once he does start looking at colleges, there are two things that he will be focusing on.
"I am looking at good academics because an education will always come first," said Jones, a good student who plans on majoring in Business Management. "I also don't want to be waiting for four years, then, maybe, play my last year. I would rather work my butt off and make an impact on the team and make them a better team."
When asked what he knows about one of the schools that is recruiting him, Mississippi State, Jones had this to say about them.
"I know a little about them, but not too much," said Jones. "I know they have a good team. I have asked some people that I know and they said that they have a good program and know what they are talking about. And they have good academics."
