Alumni, Friends, Staff, and all Bulldog Supporters,<P>
You are cordially invited to join your fellow Bulldog fans to a Congratulations Party for our Lady Bulldog Basketball Team. Coach Fanning and the Lady Dogs will gather from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday night, March 21, at the Perry Cafeteria in the heart of the MSU Campus. There will be opportunities for autographs and pictures with the coaches and the players, so be sure to bring the kids and the cameras!
The MSU Alumni Association would like to congratulate our Lady Bulldog Basketball team for another successful season in 2001 - 2002. Under 2000 SEC Women's Coach of the Year Sharon Fanning, the Lady Dogs finished the season with an 18 - 11 record, 8 - 6 in the SEC, with impressive wins over nationally ranked Florida, Georgia, and arch-rival Ole Miss. At the conclusion of the season, the ladies received their third invitation to post-season play in the past four years, as a 12th seed in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. After a thrilling victory over a tenacious Boston College team, the Dogs were out-gunned in Lubbock, Texas in the second round by the Texas Tech Lady Raiders and their 3,000+ Lady Raider fans. Regardless of the odds, the Lady Dogs held their own and we can all be proud of the great run they made during the tournament and the 2001 - 2002 season. And you can almost rest assured that the Lady Dogs will be back and barking in the NCAA tournament for the 2002 - 2003 season, under the leadership of Latoya Thomas, Tan White, Keisha Stringfellow, and rest of the Lady Bulldog Basketball squad!
Our Lady Dogs made a powerful statement in this year's NCAA tournament, but they truly need the support of their alumni, friends, and fans to move on to the next level in the near future. Don't miss your chance to visit with the 2001-2002 Lady Bulldog Basketball Team and Coach Sharon Fanning!!
