I won't go into the Jamar Chaney pre-Mississippi State story. There are plenty of articles on that on his profile page (see link above). What I'm going to focus on is his current status - the latest Mississippi State commitment.

And Chaney quickly confirmed that by saying, "yes sir," when I asked him if he had committed to Mississippi State.

Mississippi State was the last school of four that he visited. According to Chaney, the others were, "North Carolina State, Maryland and Rutgers."

What put Mississippi State over the top? He said there were several factors.

"Just how they play and get along," said Chaney. "And they have a pretty good coaching staff. And playing time (was a factor)."

We know why he liked Mississippi State. When he visited Mississippi State what did their coaching staff say they liked about him?

"They said they liked me as a person and as a football player," said the 6-1, 235-pounder. "They liked how I acted when I was around them. They already knew I was a good football player"

Now that he has finally gotten recruiting out of the way, what is he now focused on?

"I'm ready to play football," said Chaney, who plans on reporting to Mississippi State on August 3rd. "I am going to try to come in there and compete for a job pretty soon."
