Two Dogs take second at Alabama relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -­ Two members of Mississippi State's track teams took second-place honors on the third day of competition at the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

For the men, senior Dion Crabbe took second place in the long jump, leaping 24-3 ¾, which matches his personal-best outdoor mark. Junior Kelvin Harris also had a good day, placing ninth in the 110m high hurdles (14.77).

On the women's side, freshman Tiffany McWilliams ran a 2:08.75 in the 800-meter run, taking second place in the event. McWilliams now ranks third on MSU's all-time 800 meters charts in just her first season for head coach Al Schmidt.

Other notables for the Bulldogs included a ninth-place finish for senior Viktor Mara (150-3) in the hammer throw and freshman Chris Withrow's fifth-place showing in the pole vault (13-11 ¾).

Also for the women, senior CeCe Brown and junior Le'Kisha Barnaby-Pope finished sixth in the 400- and 100-meter hurdles, respectively. The Vaiden, Miss., native once again set the 400m hurdles record for the Lady Bulldogs with her time of 1:01.52. Barnaby-Pope ran a personal-best 14.24 in the 100m hurdles in her sixth-place finish.

The teams conclude action tomorrow at the Sam Bailey Track and Field. Events begin at 9 a.m. with the women's hammer throw.
