When I last talked to Markeith Summers on July 20th, he told me that he didn't know much about Mississippi State. However, since then, he had a chance to attend a 7 on 7 camp at Mississippi State. What did he learn about them?
"I didn't know they ran the West Coast offense," said Markeith. "That's the best kind of offense that you can have."
He also got to talk to their coaches and tour their recently expanded indoor building, the Shira Complex.
"The coaches were real cool," said the 6-1.5, 192-pounder. "I like them. I liked their wide receiver coach (Guy Holliday). He's real straight up. I talked to him for a long time.
"I also liked their facilities. I didn't know too much about their facilities. Everything is brand new."
And when he said he didn't know too much about their facilities, he wasn't joking. Although MSU, as Coach Croom said at the SEC Media Days, is in a building frenzy that includes the expansion of the Shira Complex and the building of the huge Palmeiro Center, when I asked Markeith what he thought about those two indoor facilities, he said, "I didn't even know that they had one."
Now that he knows more about State, where do they stand with him recruiting-wise?
"They are probably like in my top 5 now," said Markeith, a player who claims at least 10 scholarship offers.
