Coach Donald Harris, Cleveland (MS) East Side HS

Coach Donald Harris, the Cleveland (MS) East Side High School head football coach, talks with Gene's Page about some of the players on his team that he feels have a chance to be division-I prospects by their senior year.

I know this past year you had a great prospect in Aries Nelson, a player that signed a scholarship with Mississippi State. Do you have any underclassmen that you feel have a chance to be D-I prospects?
"I have a couple of juniors that I would like to mention.

"The first one is Chantes Johnson. Chantes is 6-3 and weighs 215 pounds. He runs a 4.5 forty. He plays wide receiver, tight end and linebacker for us. He is a very good player. I really feel he has a chance to play on the division-one level.

"Another player that I have that is a good one is Nicholas Thompson. Nicholas is 6-1, 230 pounds and runs a 4.7 forty. He plays linebacker for us. He has been starting since he was a sophomore."

Thanks for your time, Coach Harris.

Note: Many players physically develop later than others and there is no way to know this until it happens. Therefore, the players mentioned above may not be the only potential D-I prospects on the team.-Gene
