STEVE PAHLMAN INTERVIEW

I have you listed as 6-5, 275, 5.3 forty. Is that correct?
"I'm 285 now."

You are an offensive lineman. Do you play guard or tackle?
"I play right tackle. Really, I basically play on the side the ball is going. If we run a sweep, I move to guard and pull."

What are your strengths as an offensive lineman?
"I'm aggressive and I can move really well for as big as I am. My strength is also very good. I guess what makes me as good as I am is my aggressiveness. I play from the snap until the whistle is blown."

What do you feel you need to improve on?
"My weakness, right now, is my footwork. I'm quick with my initial contact, but after that I need to work on my footwork."

Did your coach keep stats for offensive linemen?
"Yes sir, I graded above 80% in every game."

Do you have any personal goals for next season?
"I want to be the best offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi next season."

What team goals do you have for next season?
"I want to win a state championship. Last year, we went 4-7 and made it to the first round of the playoffs. We have everybody back this season. I think we had two starting seniors."

What honors did you earn last season?
"MAC 3A second team All-State. I also earned All-Division 8-3A, All-Area, All-Academic. I also made the 8-3A MVP team. That team consists of the top players at each position in your district."

What football camps did you attend last summer?
"Just Mississippi State. As a team, we went to Northwestern University in Louisiana."

What camps are you going to attend this summer?
"Mississippi State, LSU, USM, Auburn and Ole Miss."

Have you attended any college Junior Days this spring?
"I went to Mississippi State's and LSU's."

Why did you decide to attend those two Junior Days?
"They were the most convenient to attend. Plus, Mississippi State and LSU are my top two colleges right now."

What impressions did you form about each school after attending Junior Day at each?
"Mississippi State is like home to me. It has the same atmosphere as my school. Their coaches are real down to earth and know how to talk to you. Their players are just like me, good ole country boys. LSU is in the capital of Louisiana and is in a big city. The main thing I like about LSU is the thought of running out in front of all of those people in the stands. They have a big stadium."

Have you attended any spring games?
"I attended the Mississippi State game. I don't know if I will be able to attend their spring game, but I may make one of LSU's practices. I also may go to USM's since it is only about 5 minutes away."

Did your parents attend a college?
"My dad graduated from MSU."

Do you have any brothers or sisters who have or are attending college?
"My brother was raised in Hattiesburg so he went to Southern."

Have you grown up a fan of any college?
"MSU."

Did your dad graduating from there influence you?
"That influenced me, but, like I said, the most influential thing about MSU is it is like home to me. When I go up there, it is just like the atmosphere where I was raised."

What schools are sending you letters?
"I've gotten letters from all the SEC schools except for Florida and Tennessee. I've also gotten letters from Colorado, Stanford, Harvard...Harvard actually called the school.., Dartmouth and Penn. That is all that I can think of right now."

You mentioned earlier your top two schools right now are MSU and LSU? Is that correct?
"Yes sir."
