"I've received calls from Stanford, Mississippi State, Colorado, Fresno State, Utah State, Nevada, Oregon and UNLV," said Richard.
And four of those eight have made his list of early favorites.
"Colorado, Stanford, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Oregon are my leaders," said Richard.
Now that he has tentatively cut his list to five, the next step in his recruiting process is to set up official visits.
"I've been trying to set up official visits, but I'm not sure which dates I have available," he said. "I'll probably visit Stanford during one of their games, but I'm not sure which, yet."
He also is very much interested in taking an official visit to Mississippi State.
"I'm very interested in Mississippi State," said Richard. "They are one that I will take an official visit to."
One of the reasons he likes State is their track program. Richard is one of the nation's top triple jumpers.
"Their track coach, through email, told me about their great sprinters and how great their track team has been the last couple of years," said Richard, who has said in a previous interview that track will play a significant role in his recruitment.
Keep it right here to find out if Mississippi State will be the lucky college that Richard Sherman will ultimately sign with.
