"(Wednesday night), I received calls from Fresno State, Stanford, Oregon and UNLV," said the 6-2, 178-pound DB/WR. "The schools that are consistently calling me are Mississippi State, Fresno State, UNLV, Stanford and Colorado."
Not only are the calls he is receiving impressive, but so are the offers.
"I have offers from Mississippi State, Nebraska, Colorado, UCLA, Stanford and UNLV," said Richard. "I think that's it."
The last time we talked his top five were Colorado, Stanford, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Oregon. He's now got a new top 5.
"My top five are UCLA, UNLV, Colorado, Stanford and Mississippi State," he said. "They are all even. Now, Mississippi State is recruiting my brother, Branton Sherman. He is at a JC. He's 6-1.5 and 185 pounds and plays receiver."
One of the top triple jumpers in the nation, two schools are also showing interest in Richard as a dual football/track recruit.
"Mississippi State and Stanford are recruiting me for track also," said Richard. "I plan on running track in college."
He's researched the track programs at both schools.
"I've heard a little more about MSU's track program," said Richard, who sports a 3.9 GPA in the classroom. "They have been pretty good over the past few years. Stanford, the last thing I heard about them is they got eliminated early and had a couple of good sprinters, but nobody broke 10.3 and 10.4 (seconds in the 100m)."
Although he hasn't talked to the MSU track coach that is recruiting him, he has, however, stayed in contact with him.
"I haven't talked to their track coach but we've emailed back and forth," said Richard. "I will probably call him pretty soon."
And we'll give Richard a call back in about three weeks to find out the latest recruiting update.
