Lady Dawgs Face TCU & #15 Arizona St.

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs (1-1) travel to Playa del Carmen, Mexico to participate in the Caribbean Classic over the Thanksgiving holidays, Nov. 25-26. State faces TCU (1-1) on Friday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. CT and 15th-ranked Arizona State (3-0) on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. CT.

State is coming off a 1-1 performance in the 2005-06 season opening weekend with a win over Southeastern Louisiana, 71-55, and a loss to ETSU, 78-53. Freshman guard/forward Robin Porter is leading the Lady Bulldogs with 15.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. Junior forward/center Natasha Henderson is pulling in 9.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg. With her two blocks vs. ETSU, senior forward Mamie McKinney moved into a tie for ninth place on the all-time MSU block shots list with 49. She is tied with former Lady Bulldog Kunshinge Sorrell (1986-88).

TCU
TCU went 23-10 last season and advanced to the NCAA First Round. The Lady Frogs return 10 letterwinners including three starters to the 2005-06 squad. They have gone 1-1 this season with an overtime win over Long Beach State, 71-68, and a loss to Georgia, 80-51. Junior guard Natasha Lacy is leading the Lady Frogs with 13.0 ppg and 11.5 rpg and sophomore forward Lorie Butler-Rayford is also averaging a double-double with 11.5 ppg and 10.0 rpg.

State is 1-0 vs. TCU and 2-4 vs. the Mountain West Conference. The Lady Bulldogs took the last meeting, 108-85, on Dec. 31, 1992.

Arizona State
The Sun Devils went 24-10 last season and advanced to the NCAA Regional Semifinals. This year ASU has started out 3-0 with victories over Vanderbilt (69-60), Missouri (69-54) and at San Diego (67-63). The 15th-ranked Sun Devils return six letterwinners including three starters to their squad. Sophomore forward Emily Westerberg is averaging 14.7 ppg and 7.7 ppg and senior forward Kristen Kovesdy is posting 14.0 ppg and 6.3 rpg.

This marks the first meeting vs. Arizona State. MSU is 1-2 vs. Pac-10 Conference. ASU will be State's first meeting with a ranked team this season. Versus ranked teams MSU is 28-160 (.149) and 26-61 (.299) in the Fanning era.
