Roshaad and his Meridian High School teammates will be playing for the 5A state championship this Friday night when they take on South Panola. And college coaches, despite being very, very interested in Roshaad, have scaled back their in-home visits until after the game.
"Alabama, Southern Miss, Iowa State and Mississippi State have come to the school," said Roshaad, "but, they want to wait until after the high school football season is over before coming into my home."
All basically told him the same thing while visiting him at school.
"They were just letting me know that they are still looking at me and asked me if I was still interested in them," said Roshaad. "And they were trying to see what was the best possible time to come in-home and have a visit. They all want to come in after the game. I think Alabama and Mississippi State set up in-home visits, but I forgot who said what."
While he's a week away from any in-home visits, he has set up a couple of official visits and has plans for others.
"I've set up visits to Alabama on January 20th and Southern Miss on January 17th," said Roshaad. "I'm also going to visit Mississippi State. It'll be sometime after the Alabama visit." And based on a November 29th interview with Scott Kennedy, he also said he is going to set up visits to Texas A&M and Iowa State.
As for favorites, he has a fav five.
"All of those that I named and Texas A&M, too," commented Roshaad. "I don't favor any over the others."
He explained what he likes about each school.
"Alabama and Southern Miss are the same, they always have good defenses and a good linebacking corps year-in, year-out," said Roshaad. "And I want to be a part of that. Mississippi State is in their rebuilding stage and I feel that I can help. Texas A&M and Iowa State are looking for linebackers and I feel I can help both teams."
We'll check back with Roshaad in a couple of weeks to find out what his official visit schedule looks like.
