Here is what his head coach said about him: "He is a big kid (6-4, 295) with great strength," said head football coach Lance Pogue. "He has a lot of ability. If he becomes a little more aggressive, he has a bright future. I think that the strength that he has gained has made him more aggressive (this spring)."
I had each player write down his height, weight, forty speed, maximum bench press and squat. An assistant coach confirmed the numbers. Here are Chad's numbers.
What are your strengths as an offensive lineman?
"Straight ahead blocking. I'm pretty good at pass-blocking.
"I also play defense. I feel I am good at pass-rushing."
What are areas of your game you feel you need to work on?
"My speed and quickness."
What honors have you earned during your high school career?
"I earned first-team All-District this past season."
Did you attend any football camps last summer?
Are you going to attend any this summer?
"Yes sir, I know I'm going to the Ole Miss camp. I'm going to try to go to the Southern Miss and the Alabama camps."
Did you attend any college football games last season?
"Mississippi State. I had season tickets. I went to the Kentucky, South Carolina games and a couple of others. I also went to the Southern Miss game when they played TCU."
Have you grown up a fan of any college or colleges?
"I have grown up wanting to go to State."
What schools are sending you letters?
"Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Alabama, Auburn, Iowa, Arkansas...(Mississippi) State sent me a couple but not many...and a few from Michigan. There are a few others but I can't think of them right now."
Have you received any calls from college coaches during May?
"I received one from a coach at Alabama yesterday."
What schools are you most interested in at this time?
"Right now, I am kind of leaning to Ole Miss."
