Dawgs and Rebs to Play Two Saturday

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Heavy rainfall totaling in excess of three inches Friday afternoon forced postponement of the scheduled series-opening baseball game between Mississippi State and Mississippi.

The game has been rescheduled as part of a Saturday doubleheader, with both games scheduled for nine innings. Saturday's twinbill will begin at 3:08 p.m. with the scheduled televised game on FOX Sports Net South/SEC-TV. MSU will honor its eight senior players during ceremonies prior to the start of Saturday's competition.

Season ticket holders are advised to use the original Saturday game ticket (Game 55) for the doubleheader. The stadium ticket office at Dudy Noble Field will open at 1 p.m.

Mississippi State (30-22-1, 11-15 SEC) and Mississippi (37-16, 14-13 SEC) are among five teams battling for the final three berths in next week's SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala.

Sophomore lefty Paul Maholm (8-3, 3.74) and senior right-hander Tanner Brock (6-4, 4.44) are the probable starters for MSU Saturday while UM is expected to start senior righty Pete Montrenes (8-5, 4.78) and freshman righty Alan Horne (5-1, 4.05).
