Chaz, during his junior season, had 108 pancake blocks, allowed just 2 sacks and graded 89% for the year. For his efforts, he earned numerous honors, including The Clarion-Ledger 1st Team All-Metro, 1st Team All-Conference, Most Valuable Offensive Lineman of the Year award, Most Valuable Offensive Lineman Award for the championship game and Most Valuable Co-Defensive Lineman for the championship game. He has also been invited to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game underclassmen combine in San Antonio, Texas.

    And schools have taken notice.

"I'm receiving letters from a lot of the SEC schools and other schools such as Notre Dame, the University of Miami, Texas A&M and Texas, a bunch of schools," said Chaz. "Vanderbilt and Notre Dame have sent me three or four handwritten letters."

Does he have a favorite list?

"I'm pretty much wide open. I really don't have any favorites," he said.

When asked if there were 7 or 8 that he is currently interested in, he told me in an email by way of his father that he has an interest in more than 8 schools, but limited it to 8, in no particular order; Notre Dame, LSU, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, USM and Auburn He said that he is really open to where he would go and would like to visit as many schools as possible. He did say that academics and coaching staffs will play a big part of where he would like to go.

As for Junior Days and college camps, he has started thinking about those.

"I am going to Vanderbilt's Junior Day in March. I don't know of any others right now but I'm sure there will be some others," said Chaz. "And I'm going to try to go to camp at Notre Dame, probably LSU and some other SEC schools."

Schools that he camped at last year included, "Alabama, Southern (Miss), Ole Miss, (Mississippi) State, Louisville-Monroe. This year, I am going to go to the Senior Day Camps, so I'm going to try to go to a couple of more this year."

Although he played at Jackson Academy last year, he will transfer to Madison Central High School in January. He explained his decision to transfer.

"I want to see what I can do at that level of play," he noted. "And I know that if I do make it at the (collegiate) level, that's what I'm going to be competing against."

    Why Madison Central High School?

"I live in the Madison District and it's right next door to me," said the 6-4, 260-pounder. "And it's the closet 5A school to me."

Chaz shouldn't have much of a problem adjusting to the Mississippi public school 5A level, at least if you base it on his strength and speed.

"I'm maxing out at 325 on the bench press," said Chaz. "I'm squatting about 500 to 515. I'm working on speed and agility four days a week with a trainer in Jackson, but I don't know what my forty is. It is probably 5.1."

And as you will see in his highlight video below, he's already got the size, foot quickness and the on-the-field meanness coaches like to see in their offensive linemen.
