Women's Hoops Close Non-Conference Slate

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State's women's hoops squad will put the finishing touches on their non-conference schedule against the Panthers of Birmingham Southern on Monday, Jan. 2 in the Humphrey Coliseum on the MSU campus. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m.

Head coach Sharon Fanning's team is coming off a 73-59 setback to UAB last Thursday night in Birmingham, Ala.

BSC is under the direction of first-year head coach Brad Hodge. Hodge, who has Mississippi ties, served as head coach at East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss. During his stint at ECCC, he compiled 80-36 record. The Panthers are led by junior Pam Thornborrow and senior Stacey Anthony.

The Panthers ran their record to 4-5 on the season with a 75-73 win over Alcorn State.

In the only meeting between MSU and BSC, the Lady Bulldogs won 73-57 last season.

State will open its SEC slate on Thursday, Jan. 5 at home against the Lady 'Backs of Arkansas. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
