"I'm a Bulldog Now!"

Highly touted Anthony Summers talks about his commitment to Mississippi State.

"I'm a Bulldog now! I committed to Coach Croom and Coach Haley when they came back over here at 4 p.m. (this afternoon). I felt like that was the best place for me."

Those were the words Anthony Summers, one of the most highly recruited players in the south, said to me less than an hour ago.

He explained why he chose the Mississippi State Bulldogs over Ole Miss and LSU, his three finalists.

"Mississippi State is close to home and I want to stay close," said Anthony. "I'm also the only safety they are recruiting."

As for Ole Miss and LSU, he said, "LSU is too far away and I want to stay close. I'm not really sure what's going on over there at Ole Miss."

Stats-wise, Anthony, who played quarterback and safety for Olive Branch High School head coach Jamie Mitchell, had 1,269 yards passing for 21 touchdowns. He also recorded 20 tackles.
