Jovon, who has offers from Colorado, Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State and Mississippi State, has two at the top of his list.
"My leaders are Arizona and, probably, Mississippi State," said the 6-3, 315-pounder. "They are one-two. Arizona has a slight lead."
He explained what he likes about those two.
"Arizona was my first scholarship offer. They are recruiting me real hard. And it looks like I could play early there," said Jovon. "Mississippi State is in the SEC, so you are always playing somebody that is very good. That is the top conference right now. And they produce good linemen, D-linemen."
Has he ever visited the state of Mississippi?
"No, I've never visited Mississippi, but I'm not that curious about them because we have people at Dorsey (High School) that have been all over, so I ask them about them," he said. "I know one person who went to Mississippi State. They didn't play on the team, but they went to that school."
What does he know about Mississippi State?
"I've met the head coach (Sylvester Croom). He is kind of funny and is a real cool coach," said Jovon. "And I get along with (MSU assistant) Coach (Guy) Holliday. He told me that the SEC is a great place to go, because you are always going to play a good opponent. You will play Georgia one week, then come back and play Auburn the next week. It's a good league to be scouted in. I could get along with their coaches really well."
Jovon will find out even more about MSU this coming weekend. "I'm going to be visiting Mississippi State this weekend and Arizona State the week after."
He's previously visited Arizona and had a visit planned with Oregon this past weekend, although that one fell through.
"I was supposed to go to Oregon this weekend, but they canceled on me, so I'm not going to go there," he said.
We'll contact Jovon after his Mississippi State visit to find out his thoughts about it.
