BOSTON - A trio of Mississippi State University distance runners
concluded competition at the Boston University Terrier Classic on
Saturday afternoon. Lady Bulldog seniors Zita Magloire and Jen
McPherson each came away with top 10 finishes in the mile run.
"Meggan (Hodge) had a great first half of her race. It's encouraging to
see her run like that since she's been working on rebuilding her career
after that devastating injury," said MSU head coach Al Schmidt. "Zita
ran the mile to try to get some speed since she'll be running some
longer distance events at the Tyson Invitational. This was Jen's first
real race is almost a year."
In the mile run, McPherson crossed the line in a season-best 4 minutes,
55.51 seconds to finish sixth overall, fifth among collegiate
competitors. Magloire ran 4:57.75, a personal record to finish sixth
collegiately (ninth overall).
Senior Meggan Hodge competed in the 5000-meter run. Behind a 17:57.23
performance the Beaumont, Alberta native finished 30th overall and 22nd
among collegiate competition.
Following a two-week competition layoff, the Lady Bulldogs return to
action Feb. 10-11 at the Powered by Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville,
