McWilliams Wins First Professional Race

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Former Mississippi State track and field all-American Tiffany McWilliams won her first professional race on Friday night at the Tyson Invitational held at the night at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Facility on the campus of the University of Arkansas. McWilliams' win may be seen on ESPN2 Sunday evening beginning at 10:30 p.m. CT.

McWilliams ran the mile run in 4 minutes, 30. 60 seconds to break her previous facility record set in 2004.

"She ran great," said McWilliams' coach, Al Schmidt. "She went out and had the lead. She fell behind and came back. She kicked it out during the last 100-meters."

McWilliams' next meet is the 2006 AT&T USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for Feb. 24-26 at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston.
