Not only does George County High School have the top senior catcher in the state, MSU signee Brent Tanner, but they also have two of the top junior baseball prospects in the state.
is a 6-1, 190-pound junior outfielder/righthanded pitcher who throws in the high 80's/low 90's. He's also a very speedy outfielder. I saw him for the first time during last summer's State Games of Mississippi in Meridian. Last year, as a hitter, he hit .404 with 7 triples, 7 home runs and 40 RBI. Pitching-wise, he was 1-1 with 3 saves and an ERA of 0.39. Teams batted .200 against him. So far, he's receiving letters from D-I schools MSU, Auburn, Texas A&M, Southern Miss and South Alabama. A pro scout that I am friends with has him listed as the top prospect in the state for next year's class.
Jordan Scott is a 6-0, 190-pound OF/RHP who is receiving interest from South Alabama. Belhaven College and several jucos are also looking at him. He throws in the 85 to 88 range according to his coach. Last year, he was 4-2 with an ERA of 1.89. Teams batted .230 against him.
The third player, MSU signee Brent Tanner, a catcher who, according to his coach, throws to second base in the 1.9 to 2.0 range, batted .386 last season with 9 doubles, 7 homers and knocked in 36 runs.
