True freshman Matt Lea threw three excellent innings during the Wednesday scrimmage.
Redshirt freshman Chad Crosswhite needed just 6 pitches to get his three outs in the one inning he pitched. He threw 86-87 consistently, topping out at 90.
True freshman Aaron Weatherford, who topped out at 91 miles per hour, struck out 1 in his one inning of work. He allowed no runs, hits or walks.
All three youngsters are expected to pitch this weekend against Marist.
Recruiting tidbit: Future Bulldog lefthanded pitcher Tyler Whitney, one of the top pitchers in the southeast, will pitch against Canton Academy Saturday at 3 p.m. He matches up with Ole Miss signee Jake Morgan. Look for numerous Major League Baseball scouts to be at the game.
