2007 Profile: Joshodrick Rawls

Columbia, Mississippi may best be known for being the hometown of former NFL great Walter Payton, but the "City of Charm" on the Pearl River has become a hotbed of sorts for potential college football prospects. The past several years have seen players from CHS play in Conference USA as well as the SEC.

One of the newest players on college recruiters' radar is #59 Joshodrick Rawls from Columbia High School. Rawls is a punishing hitter who played all over the field for the Wildcats a year ago. Where will Rawls play in college?

"I'll play wherever," said Rawls, who recorded 70 tackles and 8 sacks last season. "I could bulk up and play defensive end or play linebacker or maybe strong safety."

The 6-0, 215-pound youngster certainly passes the "look" test and has the weightroom numbers to prove it. Rawls boasts a 325-pound bench press, a 475-pound squat, and a 610-pound deadlift.

Rawls is making a lot of trips to the mailbox and gets two or three recruiting letters some days. Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Mississppi State, LSU, Auburn and Illinois are all showing early interest.

With so much interest is it possible for Rawls to identify an early leader?

"Right now it's Mississippi State," said Rawls, who found out today that he has been invited to Mississippi State's Junior Day.

Keep it right here to find out the latest on what projects to be a very busy recruitment process for Joshodrick Rawls.
