Northeast Miss. CC DT Eric Holcombe

Eric Holcombe (6-3, 285, 4.98) is a defensive tackle from Northeast Miss. CC. Highly recruited during his high school career at Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama, Eric is also being highly recruited at NECC after earning first-team All-State as a freshman. He has scholarship offers from numerous schools. Gene's Page interviewed him Monday night (June 10).

Coach John Perry at Northeast Miss. CC told me a little about you. He said you are 6-3, 285 with a best time of 4.98 in the forty. You also played at Davidson High School in Mobile. Is that correct?
"That's right."

What schools recruited you during high school?
"Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, South Carolina....basically all the schools in the SEC."

How did you do your freshman year at Northeast?
"I think I had 73 tackles and 7 sacks."

Did you earn any junior college honors this past season?
"I earned first-team All-State this past year."

What colleges are recruiting you now?
"South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Kansas, LSU, Alabama, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, West Virginia and Mississippi State."

What schools have called you during the month of May?
"The schools I just mentioned."

What schools have offered you scholarships?
"Auburn, South Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, Ole Miss and Mississippi State."

Have you narrowed the schools down to a certain number?
"No, I'm wide opened. I like all of them."

What are the college coaches telling you that they like about you?
"They like my quickness off the ball. They tell me that I move really well."

What do you think you are really good at?
"I'm real quick off the ball. Most people can't catch up with me and get their hands on me."

Coach Perry mentioned that you will graduate in December.
"Yeah, I graduate in December."
