Blake Young Has it Down to Five

One of the top guards in the junior college ranks, Daytona Beach Community College's Blake Young, is receiving serious attention from some of the top colleges in the nation. And he has the offers to prove it.

"He has offers from Washington, St. John's, Creighton, Mississippi State and Alabama," said assistant coach Geoff Alexander. "They are the ones that are after him the strongest. We are gathering information for his (official) visits."

Head coach Brad Underwood explained why he's receiving such heavy attention.

"He's fearless and can score every way you can imagine," said Coach Underwood. "He's without question the most talented and athletic player in junior college. I've had several recruiting services and (D-I) coaches tell me that."

Considering he won the Florida Senior Showcase slam dunk contest and was a two-time winner of Winter Park Rotary slam dunk contest during his high school career, facts support what Coach Underwood said about his athleticism.

After averaging 23.4 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Daytona Beach CC, Blake earned 1st Team All-State honors and was his conference's Player of the Year. During his freshman season, he was a member of the Mid-Florida conference team and a member of Mid-Florida conference All-Freshman team.
