"Man, I get five to six every other day."
What schools are mailing you letters?
"Clemson, West Virginia, LSU, South Carolina...that's mainly it. Memphis has started sending me a lot of stuff lately. Auburn and Ole Miss have quit sending me letters. I guess they know that I have committed. Ole Miss did the same thing with (Brandon teammate) Richard Burch when they found out he had committed. We were talking about that yesterday. He said after he committed (to Mississippi State), Yancy Porter came out and wrote that they didn't offer him anyway. Richard told me that they did offer him."
I'm curious about something, have you counted the total number of letters that you have received?
"Yeah, I've received 205 letters."
Switching subjects, did you watch Richard Burch in the MS/AL All-Star Classic football game this past Saturday night?
"I didn't get to see it. I was going to go to it but our coach didn't take us."
Did you not watch it on television?
"No, I didn't even know it was on tv."
Richard had a great game.
Are you going to any camps the rest of the summer?
"Yeah, I coming to the next Mississippi State camp. I am going to get there bright and early this time. I'm supposed to go to the Air McNair camp, but I don't know if I'm going to go. It's not a guaranteed deal that I'm going to go. Other than that, those are the only camps I will go to."
What are you looking forward to this coming season?
"Man, this is a big season. I don't know what it is but there is a feeling going through me that makes me think (Brandon HS) is going all the way this season. I don't know why it is coming to me, but I hope it is true. A day doesn't go by where I don't think about this season. I think about the games and practice. When I lift weights, I'm ready to play. In fact, I have to lift weights tomorrow. They have us lifting Monday, Wednesday and Friday until a week before practice starts. We will have a week off, then we start practice."
Are you guys doing any running?
"That part is up to us. We have to get ourselves in shape. I have basketball practice every day. We run, run, run every day."
Have you lost any weight this summer?
"I've lost about 7 pounds. I am down to 243 now. I am trying to get down to 240, then gain it back in muscle. I also want to try and get my forty down to 4.6. It is 4.8 right now."
Ken, you emailed me about another non-Mississippi State website that had an article where you said they misquoted you. You said you wanted to talk to me about that. Are you sure you want to talk about what was said? I don't want you to get get into the middle of something unless you are sure you want to.
"Yeah, I sure do. Gene, the guy put some stuff in his article that I didn't say. I want the people to know I didn't say some of those things."
What did the guy write that you didn't say?
"The part where I said that South Carolina offered me first, then Mississippi State must have found out and offered me the next day, I didn't say that. I did say that South Carolina offered me first. The rest of it I didn't say.
"Then the part about what camps I was going to attend. I told him that I wasn't going to be able to make the Ole Miss camp. He put that I was going to a family reunion. I didn't say that. The reason I didn't go to it was because the camp was on a Wednesday. Bobby (Weakly) called me Tuesday night and told me that I needed to be at the school. I told him I wasn't going to be able to make it because I had to work."
That about does it, Ken. I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me. I'll call you again soon.
