Still Committed to Ole Miss

Okolona High School's Robert Elliott, in my opinion one of the two best running backs in the state of Mississippi along with Coffeeville High School's Lee Chambers, remains committed to Ole Miss, but also has some interest in several other schools.

"I still have the same two offers (Ole Miss and Mississippi State), but Alabama is thinking about offering," said Robert, who attended the Alabama A-Day game this past weekend. "Florida and Arkansas have been calling my coach asking about me."

He committed to Ole Miss very early in the recruiting process. What's his current status?

"I am just stuck on the UOM, University of Mississippi. I love (the University) Mississippi," said Robert. "That's where I think I'm going. I'm still looking at other schools, but right now I'm on Ole Miss."

What other schools is he interested in?

"I'm also interested in Mississippi State, Alabama, Florida and LSU," he said.

He explained why he likes those schools as well as Ole Miss.

Ole Miss - "I like everything about Ole Miss. The coaches are all cool and they treat me just like I'm part of their family. And I feel right at home at Ole Miss. That's why I like them so much. Really, a big impact that made me commit to Ole Miss so early was (Ole Miss QB signee) Brent Schaeffer from Tennessee. When I was in the 9th grade, I used to watch him on tv. When I found out that he had signed his letter of intent with Ole Miss, that persuaded me even more."

Mississippi State - "I like Mississippi State. They are right up there with Ole Miss. (Head) Coach (Sylvester) Croom and (Assistant) Coach (J.B.) Grimes are cool, too. They treat me just like I'm family, too."

Alabama - "I don't know too much about Alabama. But when I talk to the Alabama coach he sounds like he is real nice and cool. And it sounds like a place I would like to go."

Florida - "I just like Florida, period. My coach said he talked to them, but as far as letters and stuff like that, they aren't recruiting me. But I just like them. I just like Florida. I've been liking them ever since I was little. They are the Florida Gators. I just love them. I guess I was born liking them."

LSU - "I like them because they are good in everything. They have nothing but good athletics - good basketball team, good track team, good football team."

Ole Miss has a great commitment in this outstanding young running back. While it appears he's a solid Ole Miss commitment, other schools are definitely interested in this youngster and he in them.

Keep it right here on as we follow his recruitment right up to signing day.
