East Mississippi CC Class of 2007 Prospects

East Mississippi Community College has at least four players who have a chance to be D-I prospects next season. Players placed and expected to re-sign with the colleges they signed with out of high school are not listed.

  • Courtney Abbott (OT, 6-9, 350) - Courtney (pictured) transferred to EMCC from Florida State where he redshirted his true freshman season and didn't play his redshirt freshman year due to diabetes. He now has his diabetes under control. One of the most highly recruited high school offensive linemen his senior season with over 60 scholarship offers. Played for Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Ultimately chose Florida State over Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Virginia and Kentucky. Currently hearing from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Georgia. Likes Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU and Auburn. Expects to graduate in December.

  • Steven Black (WR, 6-2, 205) - Started as a freshman at EMCC, recording 30 catches for 325 yards and 3 TDs. Earned pre-season NJCAA All-American honors prior to his freshman season. Steven, who played for Vestavia Hills (AL) High School, is being recruited by Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Louisville (committed to them out of high school), Alabama and LSU. His favorites are Alabama, South Carolina and Louisville. Expects to graduate in December.

  • Marquez Branson (TE, 6-2, 225) - Marquez, who played for Starkville (MS) High School, caught 20 passes for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns as a freshman at EMCC. Currently receiving letters from schools such as Oregon State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, BYU, LSU and South Carolina. His favorites are LSU, South Carolina and Southern Miss. Expects to graduate in December.

  • LaMarcus Cooper (OLB, 6-1, 205) - LaMarcus is a solid as a rock outside linebacker who played his high school ball at Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana. He led his classification in sacks with 11 his senior season. He also had 150+ tackles as a senior, earning All-State honors. He was a junior college pre-season All-American prior to his freshman season. He is currently hearing from Memphis, Ole Miss, LSU and South Carolina. Favors LSU, Georgia, and Auburn. Expects to graduate in December.
