Jamal, my name is Gene Swindoll. I have a Mississippi State sports website on the internet called Gene's Page. I'm calling to get a recruiting update from you. Do you have time to talk?

What position do you play?
"My position is quarterback and defensive end."

That's an unusual combination. You must be a tall quarterback?
"Yes, I'm 6-3."

What is your weight and forty speed?
"I weigh 205 and run the forty in 4.5."

Do you know what your maximum bench and squat is?
"My bench is 265 and my squat is 455."

What honors have you earned during high school?
"First-team All-Region, All-District, All-Metro."

Have you attended any football camps during the summer and will you attend any later in the summer?
"No sir."

Have you grown up fan of any particular college?
"Yes, Mississippi State and Arkansas. Mississippi State is one of my main choices."

May was an evaluation period and college coaches could call players during that month. Did you receive any phone calls during May?
"Yes sir, basically everyone in the SEC and a few Pac-10 schools. I also talked to Georgia Tech and a lot of other smaller schools."

Have you received any official offers?
"No, not yet. A lot of them are looking at me."

What schools are you most interested in at this time?
"Mississippi State, Arkansas, Memphis, Kentucky and LSU."

What schools are recruiting you the hardest?
"Arkansas, Georgia Tech, and probably Kentucky."

What are you going to major in at college?
"Sports journalism."
