"(Travis) has committed to Mississippi State," said Peery.

Coach Peery explained why he chose Mississippi State over Baylor, TCU and Loyola-Marymount. He also had an early offer from UNLV.

"I think he really liked the coaches and the opportunity to come in and play. And I think the coaches really liked him and his ability to shoot the ball and his maturity level. He's a very good leader and kid. And I think that excited them. Travis really wanted to play at a high level and he knew playing at Mississippi State would let him do that. I thought it was a good fit for both."

Although he's a great player, he may be an even better person.

"He's an outstanding kid and really has all his ducks in a row," said Peery. "He understands who he is and where he comes from. People will really like him down there."

Travis averaged 16.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore for CSI.
