Oxford Scout.com combine comments

The Scout.com All-American combine for Oxford, MS was held this past Sunday, April 30th. We were able to catch up with several of the combine attendees to get their reactions to the day's events as well as get a quick update on their college recruitment.

Heidelburg HS OL Ra'Shad McGill

"I think the combine really let's me know where I need to be by people who know and the players surrounding me. I really enjoyed being here. My favorites right now are the University of Houston, University of Illinois, LSU and the Colorado Buffaloes."

St. Joseph Academy QB Layton Jones

"It was real good. We had a bunch of good athletes up here that helped me step up my game and hopefully I helped them step up theirs. We had a lot good athletes here and I think we helped each other out. My favorite school is Ole Miss. I am hearing from them, Auburn and Arkansas."

Calhoun City HS QB Malcolm Belim

"I think it was really good we had a lot of good players around here. I thought we had a pretty good group of guys (Quarterbacks) to compete with. I like Georgia and Georgia Tech the most right now."

Calhoun City HS WR Demarcus Fox

"We had some really impressive athletes out here. I had a really good time. I enjoyed playing with these guys. I think I did pretty good today. Alabama is showing me the most interest right now. I hear from them and South Carolina every week, but right now I would say Alabama is my top school."

Meridian HS OL Walter Taylor

"I enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun and very exciting. I did great today. Arkansas and Mississippi State are my top two schools."

Meridian HS WR Montrez Mosley

"I had a lot of fun. This was my first time coming to something like this. It was good to see where I stand against some of the best athletes in the state. I think I did good today, but I believe I could have done a little better. I had a lot of fun with the one-on-one drills. There were a lot of things like the shuttle run that I had never done before. Alabama and Florida are my top schools, but I am getting a lot of interest from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and USM. In the end I will probably end up staying in state. It depends on who all offers me."

Meridian HS WR Lindsey Spinks

"I thought every thing was all good. We had to show all our skills and things. It was a good learning experience for me. I think I did alright. There is no doubt there were some good players here today. I need to work on my quickness, my 40 time and I don't think my route running was very good today. I need to work on that and my overall quickness. My favorites right now are South Carolina, Mississippi State and Houston."

Koscuisko HS WR Dandrick Weatherby

"It was a nice combine. Everybody came out and did what they had to do to show their talent. LSU and Mississippi State are my top two schools. LSU has offered me as a wide receiver and I think Mississippi State is close to offering. The coaching staff and playing time will be important to me when I make my choice."

Kemper County HS WR Marcus Green

"There are a lot of great athletes here. I am glad I am getting some recognition and also that teaches me to step my game up from where I am now. Hopefully I can be successful in life. Everybody has a dream. I need to go to college and get an education. You have to have something to fall back on and secondly to try to get where everyone is trying to go, the NFL. Mississippi State and USM coaches have been by the school to talk to my coach. They have both offered. Mississippi State is my top school. They keep in contact with me a lot, but I cannot make a commitment right now. I am really not sure where I want to go. I am going to take things one day at a time and focus on my high school career."

Kemper County HS WR/DB Jevorius Prince

"I am hearing a lot from Memphis and LSU. I am mainly interested in Memphis. The biggest factors for me will be whoever is close to home and is showing me the most love."

Hazlehurt HS RB/DB Courtney Hall

"It was great. I had a lot of fun. I think I did good. I did the best at the covering during the one-on-one drills. Mississippi State and Houston are my top schools."

Hazlehurst HS DB Damein Anderson

"Every one I saw here was a good player and I feel that I was pretty good myself. There was a lot of talent out here. I need to work on my footwork.(Before going to college). My commitment to Mississippi State is solid. I might take a couple of visits, but I am signing with Mississippi State. Coach Beamer came by the school to watch us practice on Tuesday."

Hazlehurst HS DB Bobby Moore

"I was impressed with the one-on-one drills and I like how everyone just came out and performed. I believe I did good. I need to work on catching, agility and speed. I think I need to put on about fifteen to twenty pounds. Ole Miss has been to see us practice. LSU, MSU and Texas Tech have been sending letters. My favorite is whoever wants me the most."

Heidelburg HS DT Joshua Stephens

"It was very good today. I saw a lot of intensity in the players. I give myself an A+ today. I competed about ten times in the one-on-ones. I got a challenge from one kid and I won all three battles. LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn and Florida State are showing me the most interest."

These were just some of the players that attended the combine, but their favorable comments were echoed by nearly all of the attendees.
