"My first objective was to get in shape. I have to be in shape. I wanted to get stronger, my feet quicker and come off the ball low. I still have to work on staying low and get in better shape. Those are the two main things right now. I'm in good shape right now, but I'm not where I want to be. Hopefully, by the end of the summer I will."
You have lost a lot of weight since you have been at State. How much do you weigh now and how much did you weigh?
"Right now I weigh 339. When I lose about 15 more pounds, I will be where I want to be. I weighed 380 when I came in."
What are you trying to do during the summer workouts?
"Right now, I'm trying to work on my speed and staying low. I want to be in shape going into two-a-days."
How much did not being able to work out with coach Grant last summer hurt you in preparing for last season and how much is it helping you this summer?
"Not working out with coach Grant last summer hurt me a lot. It is helping me a lot working out with him this summer. The weight loss proves that."
You guys seem to really be enjoying working out with each other. There seems to be some team chemistry building in this team. Is that part of what the summer workouts are for?
"We are looking at building a team right now. It is not an individual thing with us, it is more building a team. If we come into two-a-days as a team, when somebody falls, somebody will be there to pick him up."
