"I was trying to improve the things that I wasn't good at last fall. I did that by working hard. Now that I have gone through the spring, I feel that I am much better. I worked on improving my pass-rushing and stopping the run. Last fall I played a little high quite a bit. I'm working on trying to stay low. When I stay low, I can do both much better."
You were a freshman last year. What was the biggest thing you had to adjust to?
"The speed of the game was really fast and everybody was bigger. You had to move fast and think quick. Now I know what to expect. When I first came in, I didn't know what to expect. It was totally different from prep school. The others (defensive linemen) went to juco and knew a little more than me. I just had to get use to it."
How much did you weigh when you first got to State and how much do you weigh now?
"I weighed 286 at the start of last season. I weigh 308 now. I'm wasn't trying to gain weight. While I was home on break, I guess I ate a little too much. It was good cooking. I still move around well and carry it well."
I am really impressed with how hard you are working in the conditioning drills.
"You get better if you work hard. If you want to improve you have to work hard, you have to have a good work ethic."
Where did you end up on the depth chart at the end of the spring?
"I ended up as the starter at noseguard at the end of the spring. I worked hard so I thought that was where I should be."
What objectives do you have this summer?
"This summer I want to get in better shape, because I don't think the other person behind me, Dannie Snyder, will be eligible this year. I have to work ten times harder because I don't know who will be backing me up this season."
What team goals do you have for the upcoming season?
"I think we should have more togetherness as a team. That is a team goal of mine. Last year, we didn't have enough togetherness and that was our downfall."
What individual goals do you have this season?
"I want to have at least 7 to 10 sacks and 50 or more tackles. Last year, I made All-Freshman SEC. I want to made All-SEC this year."
